Penang Development Corporation and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) together with Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Penang Youth Council and Penang e-Community Centers Society had successfully organized the Penang Open e-Creative Challenge 2009 (PO^eCC09) from February to May 2009. This event attracted 78 e-Community Centers and 32 NGOs from the Northern Region of Malaysia to compete in two categories, namely ’Best e-Community Website’ and ’Best NGO Website’.

A seminar on ‘Reaching out with content-rich websites’ was also being organized in conjunction with the prize giving ceremony on 23 May 2009 at Bukit Jambul Country Club, Penang. Distinguished speakers from MDeC and UUM were invited to present the following papers:

1. ”Develop creative website” by Mr. Mohd Fitri Yusoff, UUM
2. ”Taking ’Us’ back in technology (Web 2.0). Bukan Sekadar Teknologi” by Mr. Suren Haris Anwar, MDeC
3. ”The RM1,000,000.00 Topic” by Mr. Vernon Fernandez, MDeC

Penang Development Corporation (PDC) and School of Art, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) together with Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Universiti Multimedia (MMU) had successfully organized the Penang Open e-Creative Challenge 2008 (PO^eCC08) which was held from July 2007 to March 2008.

This event attracted 213 participants from the Northern Region of Malaysia to compete in four categories, namely Multimedia, Digital Art and Digital Coloring competitions.

A seminar on ’Potential of Multimedia / Animation industry’ was also being organized in conjunction with the prize giving ceremony on 15 March 2008 at School of Art, USM. It received good response from participants, teachers, parents and invited guests. Distinguished speakers were invited to present the following papers:

1. ”Potential and Challenges faced with the Content Industry” by Mr. Roslan Mohamad, MCMC
2. ”Saladin Project” by Mr. Shahrain Jamaluddin, MDeC
3. ”TAB” by Transtel Technologies

A mini exhibition by participating private educational institutions and MDeC were also being held
